The waterproof level of electronic measuring instruments reflects the ability of the instrument to be moisture-proof and dust-proof. Especially for outdoor activities, where it is inevitable to be in harsh environments with high humidity or dust and sand, the sealing and waterproof capabilities of the instrument are crucial to ensure the safe operation and lifespan of the instrument.For this reason, the IEC529 standard has been formulated internationally.In order to adapt to this, the Japanese Industrial Standards divide the waterproof protection of electronic instruments into 10 levels, namely IPX1, IPX2…… means.

0 no protection

1 Type I drip-proof: vertically falling water droplets have no harmful effects

2 Anti-drip Type Ⅱ 15° to the vertical direction“Falling water droplets within the range have no harmful effects

3 Rainproof type: Rainfall within 60 degrees from the vertical direction has no harmful effects

4 Splash-proof type No harmful effects from water splashing from any direction

5 Anti-spray type: Directly exposed to water spray from any direction without harmful effects

6 Water-resistant type: Even if water is directly sprayed from any direction, it will not enter the interior.

7 Anti-immersion type It will not enter the interior even if it is immersed in water under specified conditions.

8 Water type: It can still be used even if it is immersed in water with a certain pressure for a long time.

9. Moisture-proof type. It can be used in moisture with a relative humidity of less than 90%.

IPxx rating

The international industrial standard waterproof level IP is close to the Japanese industrial standard JIS waterproof level, which is divided into 9 levels from 0 to 8. The IP level also stipulates dust protection.

Dustproof and waterproof

The protection level adopts the IP recommended by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)×&Times; grade standard, different installation locations, the grade is different.Please refer to the instructions below for details.In the grade standard,“××”It is a two-digit number, the first digit indicates the level of protection against solids, and the second digit indicates the level of protection against liquids.There are 7 levels of solid protection, represented by 0-6; there are 9 levels of liquid protection, represented by 0-8.

Dustproof level

0: no protection

1: Prevent the intrusion of large solids

2: Prevent the intrusion of medium-sized solids

3: Prevent small solids from entering and invading

4: Prevent solid objects larger than 1mm from entering

5: Prevent harmful dust accumulation

6: Completely prevent dust from entering

Waterproof level

0: no protection

1: Water droplets dripping into the casing have no effect

2: When the casing is tilted to 15 degrees, water droplets dripping into the casing will have no effect.

3: Water or rain from a 60-degree corner has no effect on the housing

4: Liquid splashed onto the case from any direction will have no harmful effects.

5: Rinse with water without any harm

6: Can be used in the environment inside the cabin

7: Can withstand water immersion in a short period of time (1m)

8: Immersed in water for a long time under a certain pressure

Test method

For example: A scale or display instrument is marked IP65, which means that the product can completely prevent dust from entering and can be washed with water without any harm.

Provisions on waterproofing experiments in IPxx levels.

IPx 1

Method name: Vertical drip test

Test equipment: dripping test device

Sample placement: Place the sample in the normal working position on a rotating sample stage at 1r/min. The distance from the top of the sample to the dripping port shall not be greater than 200mm.

Test conditions: dripping volume is 10.5 mL/min

Duration: 10 minutes

IPx 2

Method name: Tilt 15° drip test

Test equipment: dripping test device

Specimen placement: Make one surface of the specimen 15° from the vertical line° corner, the distance from the top of the sample to the dripping port shall not be greater than 200mm.After each test of one side, switch to another side, a total of four times.

Test conditions: dripping volume is 30.5 mL/min

Duration: 4×2.5 min(10 min in total)

IPx 3

Method name: Water spray test

Test method:

a.Oscillating tube water spray test

Test equipment: Swing tube type water splash test device

Sample placement: Select a swing tube with an appropriate radius so that the height of the sample table is at the diameter of the swing tube. Place the sample on the sample stage so that the distance from the top to the sample water nozzle is no more than 200mm and the sample stage does not rotate.

Test conditions: The water flow rate is calculated based on the number of water spray holes in the swing pipe. Each hole is 0.07 L/min. When water is sprayed, the water flow rate is 60 on both sides of the midpoint of the swing pipe.° The water spray hole in the arc section sprays water towards the sample.The tested sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube.The swing tube swings 60 on both sides of the vertical line°, 120 in total°.Each swing (2×120°) about 4s

Test time: continuous water spraying for 10 minutes

b.Sprinkler type water test

Test equipment: handheld water splash test device

Sample placement: Make the parallel distance from the top of the test to the water nozzle of the handheld nozzle between 300mm and 500mm

Test conditions: A baffle with a counterweight should be installed during the test, and the water flow rate is 10 L/min.

Test time: Calculated based on the surface area of ​​the shell of the sample being tested, 1 minute per square meter (excluding installation area), minimum 5 minutes

IPx 4

Method name: splash water test

Test method:

a. Oscillating tube splash test

Test equipment and sample placement: are the same as the above IPX 3 paragraph a;

Test conditions: Except for the following conditions, they are the same as the above IPX 3 paragraph a; the water spray area is 90 on both sides of the midpoint of the swing pipe° The water spray from the water spray hole in the arc section is sprayed towards the sample.The tested sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube.The swing tube swings 180 on both sides of the vertical line°, about 360 in total°.Each swing (2×360°) about 12s

Test time: The same as the above IPX 3 paragraph a (i.e. 10 minutes).

b. Nozzle splash test

Test equipment and specimen placement: are the same as those in paragraph b of IPX 3 above;

Test conditions: Remove the baffle with a counterweight installed on the equipment, and the rest are the same as the above IPX 3 paragraph b;

Test time: The same as the above IPX 3 paragraph b, that is, calculated based on the surface area of ​​the shell of the sample being tested, 1 minute per square meter (excluding installation area), at least 5 minutes

IPx 5

Method name: Water spray test

Test equipment: The inner diameter of the water outlet of the nozzle is 6.3mm

Test conditions: Make the distance between the test sample and the water spout 2.5m ~ 3m, and the water flow rate be 12.5 L/min (750 L/h)

Test time: Calculated based on the surface area of ​​the shell of the sample being tested, 1 minute per square meter (excluding installation area), at least 3 minutes

IPx 6

Method name: Strong water spray test;

Test equipment: The inner diameter of the water outlet of the nozzle is 12.5 mm

Test conditions: Make the distance between the test sample and the water spout 2.5m ~ 3m, and the water flow rate be 100 L/min (6000 L/h)

Test time: Calculated based on the surface area of ​​the shell of the sample being tested, 1 minute per square meter (excluding installation area), at least 3 minutes

IPx 7

Method name: Short-time immersion test

Test equipment and test conditions: immersion box.The size should be such that after the sample is placed in the immersion box, the distance from the bottom of the sample to the water surface is at least 1m.The distance from the top of the specimen to the water surface is at least 0.15m
