The battery pack is the core energy source of new energy vehicles, providing driving power for the entire vehicle. In order to protect the internal components of the battery pack from erosion by dust, rain, etc., the battery pack must be sealed to a certain level of dustproof and waterproof.According to industry requirements for the protection level of electrical equipment enclosures, the dustproof and waterproof protection level of battery packs generally must reach IP67 or IP68.Therefore, manufacturers generally design battery packs for waterproofing. Commonly used waterproof sealing shell materials include: rubber sealing rings, sealants, foam tapes, etc.But no matter which material is used, it is also very important to test the waterproofness of the battery pack.
There are various methods for testing the waterproofness of battery packs. This time, Hairis Technology will bring you the waterproofness testing of new energy vehicle battery packs, hoping it will be helpful to everyone.
1. Process demonstration of new energy vehicle battery packs
The sealing of new energy vehicle battery packs needs to match the battery pack box structure and sealing rings. The upper and lower parts of the battery box need to be laser spliced to achieve overall sealing, which is structural sealing.In addition, the battery pack will also use sealing aids such as sealing rings or sealants to help form a more sealed structure.
2. The problem of insufficient waterproof sealing of new energy vehicle battery packs
1. The sealing glue between the upper cover and the bottom tank cracks, resulting in poor sealing, which can easily lead to the penetration of external liquid and pollute the battery working environment.
2. Safety valve leakage due to sealing problems may cause damage to other parts.
3. Insufficient sealing causes acid leakage at the terminals, which affects the electric wires of the battery car and causes the circuit to burn out.
4. Failure to seal will lead to loss of capacity and reduced battery life and safety.
3. Difficulties and key points of new energy vehicle battery packs
1. The shape of the new energy vehicle battery pack is fully wrapped with waterproof materials. It has strong sealing and is large in size, which is not conducive to the use of molds for fully enclosed testing;
2. Non-destructive testing needs to be implemented to avoid substantial damage to the test items;
4. Breakthroughs in difficulties in testing new energy vehicle battery packs and display of key points in testing
Since the size of the new energy vehicle battery pack is too large, it is not suitable for fully enclosed testing. Therefore, Hairis Technology adopts direct detection. There is a conduit on the instrument specially designed to transport the detection gas. During the detection, the conduit is connected to the connecting pipe of the new energy vehicle battery pack. This kind of detection is convenient and fast;
In addition, when the equipment detects, a certain volume of dry and impurity-free gas will be filled into the cavity of the battery pack, and then the compressed air supply will be cut off, and the pressure will be stabilized for a period of time. After a set measurement time, small changes in the air pressure in the detection environment will be monitored.The sensor transmits this information to the detection system, and finally through a series of calculations, the gas leakage value can be obtained. Based on the leakage value, the waterproof performance and IP waterproof level of the battery pack can be detected.
